Off Cuts

Clean, untreated, dried timber off-cuts in mixed shapes and sizes. They light fast and burn hot, making them brilliant kindling and shoulder-season fuel at our sharpest price.

Sold as a thrown measure — the standard New Zealand way of measuring loose firewood (1 cord = 3.65 m³ thrown). Price shown is per load, delivered anywhere in Hawke’s Bay (delivery charge calculated at checkout). All prices include GST.

Pine Cores

The dense centre rounds left after post and timber production, fully dried. Chunky, slow to light but long to burn — mix with kindling or split pine to get them going.

Willow

Sourced only when dead and still standing, so it arrives with extremely low moisture and can be burned immediately. Very light in weight and colour, smooth grained with no knots or gum — the cleanest firewood to work with. Great for autumn and spring fires.

Kanuka

Kanuka is very hard and particularly popular as firewood, burning with great heat. Deep brown, clean-grained wood with small knots. The premium choice when you want maximum warmth from every log. Drying time 3–5 years; moisture 15–20%.

Blue Gum

True hardwood, noticeably heavier than pine, with smooth grain and no knots. Aged blue gum shows radial cracking — the sign of properly low moisture. Load the burner before bed and there’ll still be embers in the morning. Drying time 5–6 years; moisture 15–20%.

Macrocarpa

A medium firewood with good heat output and a reasonably long burn time. Brownish dark colour, heavier than pine. It has a tendency to spark, so it’s not suitable for open fires — perfect in a log burner. Drying time 3–5 years; moisture 15–20%.

Douglas Fir / Oregon

Taken from plantations at 25–30 years old, with a distinctive orange centre and very few knots. Light in weight, splits beautifully for kindling and burns steadily with a pleasant flame. Drying time 1–2 years; moisture 15–20%.

Premium Mix
