Cut from mature farm shelter belts 40–50 years old. Denser than plantation pine with more heat per log and a longer burn. Expect character: thick bark, knots and a bit of gum. Best in an enclosed burner.

Seasoned Plantation Pine

Traditional shed-and-sun seasoned plantation pine, dried for one to two years. Smooth grained, light coloured and mostly free of knots, with thin compact bark. A dependable everyday burner at a sharper price than kiln dried.

Kiln Dried Pine

One of the most common firewoods used throughout New Zealand. Plantation pine burns very cleanly with smooth-grained, mostly knot-free wood — and kiln drying takes it well beyond shed-dried moisture levels, so it lights easily and burns hot from day one. Great for kindling too.
